Job summary

Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus is seeking an Endoscopy Technician to support licensed physicians and nurses in perioperative care. The role involves assisting with patient care, environment management, and the turnover of procedure rooms in a fast-paced GI lab setting, on-site in Indianapolis.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and experience with endoscopy equipment. CST certification is optional, with travel rarely required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate clinical competence during GI Lab procedures and perioperative care under supervision.
• Assist Endoscopist during procedures and prepare the procedure room.
• Maintain endoscopy supplies at PAR levels and ensure equipment is ready for use.
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize endoscopes and non-disposable equipment.
• Transport patients and handle instruments and supplies as needed.

The Endoscopy Technician assists licensed physicians and nurses in perioperative care with delegated tasks in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to patient care assistance, care of the environment, transportation of patients, handling of supplies, equipment, specimens, and turnover of procedure room.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Demonstrate clinical competence in assisting during G.I. Lab procedures and the perioperative phase, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, in delivering safe and effective care to the patient.
• Remove video monitors/equipment/scopes from use, label the equipment "Out of Order" if not functional, and notify the Charge Nurse and the Endoscopy Nurse of the monitor equipment/scope problem.
• Maintain appropriate endoscopy supplies at PAR levels.
• Assist the Endoscopist during the procedure.
• Check video monitors, equipment and scopes prior to the start of the procedure.
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize of endoscopes and non-disposable endoscopy equipment, instruments and supplies.
• Gather and assemble equipment, instruments and supplies for the endoscopic procedure.
• Fulltime 40 Hours/week
• Call requirement - 1 night/week, 1 weekend/month, up to 2 holidays per year

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma/GED
• 1 year Anatomy and Physiology Knowledge Preferred
• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) - optional
