Position Summary: Meets the dietary and therapeutic needs of all geriatric residents; provides palatable meals in a restaurant-style environment; knows the facts, principles, and procedures involved in the selection, purchase, preservation, and serving of food.

Primary Essential Responsibilities:
  • Plating and Serving Meals: Food service for residents' mealtimes, ensuring both hot and cold food and beverages are safely delivered.
  • Table Set-Up and Clearing: Clear dishes, set tables, and stock work- and dining areas appropriately for meal delivery.
  • Dining Room Standards: Ensure each dining room is set to standards of care and service, providing an excellent dining experience for geriatric residents.
  • Documentation and Sanitation: Document refrigerator, freezer, and food temperatures. Complete daily sanitation logs.
  • Customer Service Skills: Demonstrate resident-centered customer service.
  • Dishware Handling: Safely distribute, transport, set, and clean dishware, flatware, glasses, cups, and mugs.
  • Menu and Special Diets: Read menus and follow special diet instructions, adhering to written and oral instructions.
  • Kitchen Equipment Operation: Safely operate kitchen appliances such as the dishwasher, mixer, can opener, food processor, coffee maker, stove, microwave, blender, and steam table.
  • Cleaning and Sanitization: Clean kitchen equipment, kitchen, and dining areas.
  • Food Handling Compliance: Handle and serve food according to sanitary regulations and health department guidelines.
  • Infection Control: Demonstrate safe and sanitary working habits that comply with infection control standards.
  • Food Truck Transportation: Safely transport food trucks.
  • Phone Etiquette: Answer calls using proper etiquette.
  • Garbage Disposal and Cleaning: Remove kitchen garbage, sweep, and scrub floors.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
