LOCATION : REMOTE
Brief Description :
The position of Director of Church Engagement at Fuller Youth Institute is crucial for fostering and maintaining relationships with churches and clients. The Director will build connections with church leaders across the country and play a pivotal role in recruiting participants for FYI's training and consulting services. This role involves being a sales manager, lead trainer, and senior consultant.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Partnerships, Training, and DEI, the Director will be responsible for cultivating relationships with church leaders and stakeholders. Additionally, he or she will communicate the specific needs and challenges faced by the leaders served by FYI to provide input for FYI’s marketing strategies, research activities, and the development of new training programs.
Essential Functions :
Relationship Development and Sales (55%)
Develop relationships with church leaders inside and outside FYI’s current network nationwide, including denominational and ministry leaders, introducing them to FYI and involving them in training and consulting opportunities. Methods may include attending conferences, phone calls, emails, meals, webinars, and other innovative ideas to increase sales. Regular travel to churches, conferences, and meetings is required.
Serve as the main point of contact for all church leaders interested in training, consulting, or other support from FYI.
Ideate, develop, and host events for ministry leaders to learn about FYI initiatives, including collaborative opportunities with other centers in the Leadership Formation Division.
Represent FYI and Fuller more broadly at relevant ministry conferences by hosting exhibit booths and other in-person gatherings (approximately 2-3 times per year)
Speak and train on behalf of FYI for churches, conferences, and other leadership events.
Leadership of Cohorts and Training Initiatives (25%)
Develop and lead training under the direction of the Senior Director of Partnerships, Training, and DEI.
Serve as FYI’s primary point of contact for partner-led training with denominations and networks.
Partner with the Senior Director of Partnerships, Training, and DEI and other key staff to develop and execute new strategic training initiatives, including the development of training resources in partnership with the Director of Creative Production.
Serve as a senior church consultant.
Church Messaging and Marketing Strategy (10%)
Collaborate with the Director of FYI Brand and Marketing, the Director of Creative Production, and other team members to develop marketing and leader engagement strategies for all products, training, speaking, and consulting.
Collaborate with the Director of FYI Brand and Marketing to set annual marketing and recruitment goals for various training initiatives.
General administration and participation in FYI team meetings, events, and strategic planning (10%)
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
A Master's degree in theology or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Youth ministry and/or young adult ministry knowledge and experience are required.
Five or more years of church based staff experience required, ten or more years preferred
At least three years of experience in sales and/or project management is preferred.
Skills:
Excellent communication skills through various channels: phone, email, social media, and in person.
Ability to write clearly and effectively.
High level of people skills and hospitality.
Experience in customer relationship management.
Broad computer and Internet knowledge and skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment.
Highly detail-oriented and organized.
Strong level of strategic thinking.
Ability and desire to work within a close team environment.
Willingness to travel
Overall, the ideal candidate for this position would have a combination of education, experience, and skills in youth or other relevant areas of ministry, sales/project management, communication, customer relationship management, technology, organization, and teamwork.
