Job summary

New Destiny Housing Corporation in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Porter to help keep the building clean and fully functional. You will support the Building Superintendent and collaborate with on-site social service staff in a trauma-informed manner.

Duties include sidewalk cleaning, waste management, recycling, sweeping, mopping, basic repairs, equipment operation, and assisting tenants while moving items and turning over units. This is a full-time role with strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must be able to stand for extended periods (at least 7 hours).
• Able to move items up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable, honest and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain sidewalks of the buildings up to one foot past the curb.
• Empty the compactor room daily and keep it clean.
• Sort recyclables and take out trash on collection days.
• Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, community rooms, bathrooms and lobby.
• Assist Super with simple repairs, painting, and turning over units.
• Interact with tenants in a trauma-informed manner.
• Attend internal trainings as scheduled.
