Job summary

Waypoint is seeking an Assistant Child Care Teacher in Cedar Rapids, IA. This full-time role (40 hours per week) offers a 6:30 AM–5:45 PM schedule with a 8:45 AM–5:45 PM shift, starting pay $15/hour.

You'll support the Lead Teacher, lead engaging activities, help with daily routines, communicate with families, and contribute to a safe, nurturing classroom for toddlers. No nights or weekends, with benefits included.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED (or in progress).
• 1 year of childcare experience required.
• Strong communication with children and parents.
• Willing to complete CPR/First Aid trainings.

Responsibilities

• Lead age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
• Plan and implement daily curriculum and activities.
• Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
• Maintain a safe, supervised classroom at all times.
• Communicate with families and contribute to daily updates.
• Help maintain documentation and licensing standards.
