Responsibilities

  • Reflects the credit union's core values in daily activities and when representing the credit union.
  • Greet and welcome members, providing prompt, accurate teller transactions.
  • Receive deposits and checks, verify amounts, and enter deposits into records.
  • Cash deposits and withdrawals after verification of signatures and balances.
  • Assist with mail or email transactions when available.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit union products, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote loans, IRAs, certificates, cards, online banking, and money orders.
  • Receive mortgage and loan payments and ensure amounts match balances.
  • Enter payments into computer and issue receipts.
  • Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
  • Count, verify, and package coins and currency.
  • Balance cash drawer, research discrepancies, and report to supervisor.
  • Ensure teller station is stocked with forms and supplies.
  • Report malfunctions of teller terminals and equipment.
  • Check night depository records per procedures.
  • Provide coverage for senior positions as needed.
  • Support organization-wide member service via calls, emails, and chats.
  • Comply with all policies and applicable laws (Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, OFAC).
  • Maintain an orderly work area.
  • Other duties and hours as assigned.
  • Meet physical requirements (sitting/standing, lifting up to 30 pounds).
  • Full-Time Teller works 40 hours per week; Part-Time options available.

General Functions:

The teller will provide excellent member service by performing accurate transactions, listening, educating, and identifying members' needs. The teller will share all products/services meeting those needs to best serve the member and help the credit union prosper.


The teller position will require attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, teamwork and a basic understanding of navigating multiple computer programs and the internet. Teller must always maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of service.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. 1) Reflects the credit union's core values in their daily activities and at any time they represent the credit union.

  2. 2) Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.

  3. 3) Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.

  4. 4) Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.

  5. 5) Assist with mail or email transactions, when available.

  6. 6) Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related polices and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.

  7. 7) Promote, explain, and cross-serve other credit union services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, on-line banking, traveler's checks, and money orders.

  8. 8) Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensure the payments match balances due.

  9. 9) Enter payments into computer. Generate member receipts.

  10. 10) Place hold on accounts for uncollected funds.

  11. 11) Count, check, and package coins and currency.

  12. 12) Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.

  13. 13) Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc.

  14. 14) Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station.

  15. 15) Check night depository and record proper information according to credit union procedures.

  16. 16) Able to assist and backup duties and responsibilities of more senior positions as needed.

  17. 17) Provide organization-wide member service as needed by assisting with functions including, but not limited to: answering member calls, emails, and online chats.

  18. 18) Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

  19. 19) Maintains work area in an orderly manner.

  22. 22) Full-Time Teller is expected to work 40 hours per week. Part-Time Teller with benefits is expected to work approximately 30-39 hours per week. Part-Time Teller without benefits is expected to work 25-29 hours per week.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Availability during branch hours and to work at alternate Branch locations if/when assigned.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of bookkeeping is preferred.

  • Minimum 1 year of cash handling/teller experience is preferred.


PAY INFORMATION

$16 to $16.50 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience
