Job summary

INB in Pleasant Plains, IL is seeking a friendly Teller to be the welcoming face for our customers. You will handle financial transactions with precision, process deposits and withdrawals, and promote our banking products and services.

Your daily duties include operating a teller window, balancing cash, and guiding customers through digital banking tools. This in-office role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, cash handling or customer service experience, and excellent communication

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months to one year of related cash handling or customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to explain banking products clearly and confidently.
  • Proficient with digital platforms and bank technology.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a teller window to process deposits, withdrawals, and related transactions.
  • Enter customers' transactions into the computer and issue receipts.
  • Assist customers with questions about accounts; place holds as needed.
  • Count cash, balance currency, coins, and checks in the drawer.
  • Cross-sell bank services and refer customers to appropriate personnel.
  • Record customer interactions in the CRM platform.

  • Responsible for greeting all bank customers, as they enter the branch, in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Operate a teller window to process a variety of transactions within established guidelines, such as processing individual and commercial deposits, savings and checking transactions, cash advances, loan payments, credit card payments and other transactions.
  • Enter customers' transactions into the computer to record transactions, and issue computer-generated receipts.
  • Assist customers with questions regarding their accounts; Place holds on accounts, as appropriate.
  • Order daily supply of cash, and count incoming cash; Balance currency, coins, and checks in the cash drawer and compare totaled amounts with data displayed on the computer screen.
  • Participate in maintaining good customer relations by giving courteous, efficient service and developing new business by acquainting non-customers with bank services and presenting current customers with additional services; Identify and respond to these cross-sale opportunities by referring customers to the appropriate bank personnel.
  • Record customer interactions in the bank's CRM platform.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

High school degree or equivalent required; Six months to one-year of related experience and/or training required in the area of cash handling or customer service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires ability to communicate effectively and clearly (both written and verbally); Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills

Requires ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Requires ability to use good judgment in making routine and complex decisions; Must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to sell products and Services; Ability to accurately handle large sums of cash; Must be goal-oriented and able to achieve individual goals as well as work as a team player to achieve departmental and/or Bank goals; Flexibility is necessary with the ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with an ability to quickly learn other bank-related programs.

  • $16.00 hour
