Job Title: Full-time Substitute Custodian - Plano District 88

Job Goal

To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

Qualifications
  • Passed physical examination.
  • Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Willing and able to climb a six-foot stepladder and lift forty pounds.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  • Shovels, plows, and/or salts walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
  • Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open, all panic bars are working properly, and all entrance doors, but one, are locked during building occupancy.
  • Daily sweeps/vacuums classrooms, empties wastebaskets, and cleans/disinfects furniture, along with other tasks as assigned.
  • Cleans corridors after school each day and/or during the day when necessary.
  • Scrubs and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  • Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, more if necessary (entry doors and surrounding glass should be kept especially clean).
  • Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in good preservation.
  • Cleans all chalkboards/whiteboards as needed.
  • Makes building repairs under the direction of the Head Custodian/Principal and/or Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Reports needed repairs promptly.
  • Reports any damage to school property immediately.
  • Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when authorized and required.
  • Assumes responsibility for building security, including opening and closing, and ensuring all doors and windows are secured, lights turned off as appropriate.
  • Reports inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel, and requisitions replacements in advance.
  • Conducts ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  • Moves furniture or equipment as required.
  • Follows local laws and procedures for trash, rubbish, and waste disposal.
  • Performs summer maintenance activities such as floor cleaning, painting, lighting fixture maintenance, lawn work, and weeding.
  • Demonstrates cooperation, courtesy, and willingness to improve conditions involving staff, parents, and students.
  • Attends regularly, dresses appropriately, requests time off approval, and reports to work on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Compensation

Based on Plano CUSD 88's Collective Bargaining Agreement.
