As a Store Manager Trainee, you’ll train on all aspects of successfully running a store in preparation for managing your own store. You’ll supervise daily store activities, ensure overall performance, identify staffing needs, manage schedules, develop operational plans, and mentor the team.
Position Type: Full-Time
Estimated Hours: 45 hours per week
Starting Wage: $32.00 per hour
Year 1 Earning Potential: Up to $117,000 (including salary and bonus; may vary by location)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies, and Professional Skills (M.A.P.)
- Supervise daily operations and team performance to deliver excellent customer service
- Communicate and model company values to foster teamwork and engagement
- Handle customer concerns and resolve issues appropriately
- Maintain proper store signage, product quality, and freshness
- Assist in hiring processes, including reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates
- Prepare and revise weekly staff schedules
- Set clear responsibilities and performance expectations for team members
- Conduct store meetings and identify training opportunities
- Perform annual performance evaluations and recommend promotions or terminations
- Manage store payroll and control losses
- Oversee cash audits per company guidelines
- Monitor local competition and advise on strategic adjustments
- Provide product feedback and inventory management
- Ensure safety and store maintenance standards
- Oversee merchandising and stock levels
- Conduct inventory counts and reconciliations
- Comply with company policies and safeguard data
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Stock merchandise, lift up to 45 pounds, and perform various physical activities
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, and walk regularly
Job Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Provide prompt, courteous customer service and develop team rapport
- Interpret policies, set goals, and evaluate performance
- Understand budgeting and expense management
- Operate cash registers and store equipment safely
- Stay organized, detail-oriented, and follow instructions
- Meet state and local requirements for handling alcohol, if applicable
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- At least 3 years of retail experience; management experience preferred
Travel:
Must be flexible to train at multiple locations within divisional requirements.
