Job summary

Cox Automotive in the United States is seeking a Lot Operations Specialist I to manage vehicle staging, movement, and labeling in preparation for crew movements. You will decide timing of van crews and oversee move areas in compliance with safety and driving rules.

The role operates Monday–Friday, 7am–4:30pm with hourly pay within the stated range and potential incentive programs. Valid driver’s license and auction experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Physical ability to sit/stand, walk, and lift 1–15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Support organization, movement, staging, and placement of vehicles across the auction lot to meet operational and sale-day requirements.
• Ensure vehicles are safely operable and coordinate with service/tow teams as needed.
• Communicate inventory status with lot operations leadership, crew leaders, and cross-functional partners regarding priorities and workflow.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and use dashboards/reports to monitor inventory levels and movements.
• Demonstrate safety compliance and follow company policies and procedures.

Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $13.70 - $20.53/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

This role makes the decisions for staging vehicles and also makes decisions for the timing of the van crews to pick up. This position is also responsible labelling all cars in preparation for crew leader movements. Safe management of move areas on the auction property and the coordination of crews between each area in compliance with safety and driving rules.

Work Schedule:

Monday –Friday 7am-4:30pm

Pay rate:

$17.12 per hr.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Lot Operations & Vehicle Movement

• Support the organization, movement, staging, and placement of vehicles across the auction lot to meet operational and sale‑day requirements.
• Ensure vehicles are safely operable and upscale inoperable vehicles to service or tow teams as needed.
• Communicate with lot operations leadership, crew leaders, and cross‑functional partners regarding inventory status, priorities, and workflow needs.

Inventory Accuracy & Documentation

• Maintain accurate inventory records, logs, labels, and documentation to support tracking, reconciliation, and audit readiness.
• Utilize dashboards, trackers, and reports to monitor inventory levels, movement and operational priorities.

Safety & Compliance

• Demonstrate visible commitment to safety by following all safety and health procedures and modeling safe behaviors.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards related to employee and customer conduct.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous auction experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Constantly required to enter and exit vehicles.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level.
