Stephen G. Brilliant MS, CPA, an established CPA firm in Hillsborough, NJ, is seeking a full-time staff accountant to join our growing team.

The role focuses on preparing individual and small business returns, with a path for professional growth and a commitment to work-life balance, including most Fridays off in the summer. Reporting to the CPA/owner, you will prepare returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990), file payroll and sales taxes, assist during federal/state audits, and communicate

Qualifications

• 0–5 years of public accounting and/or taxation experience.
• BA degree in Accounting/Taxation from a U.S. college or university.
• CPA candidates are welcome to apply; licensure encouraged but not required.
• Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and QuickBooks; knowledge of Ultra Tax and/or Thomson Reuters software a plus.

Responsabilités

Stephen G. Brilliant MS, CPA, an established CPA firm in Hillsborough, NJ, is seeking a full-time staff accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a desire to work in a bustling tax office that provides the opportunity for professional growth and is committed to practicing work/life balance, which includes most Fridays off in the summer. Interest and proficiency in small business accounting and individual tax preparation will be the main focus. This individual must be available to work in the Hillsborough, NJ office on weekdays, as well as weekends in February through April.

Reporting directly to the CPA/owner, the Staff Accountant will:

• Assist and prepare simple to complex individual and business returns (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990)
• Prepare sales tax, payroll tax, and other business tax filings
• Support CPA in federal and state tax audits
• Possess excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and written, as well as proofread and edit documents for grammar and understanding
• Become knowledgeable and proficient in current tax form instruction, tax tables, and research methods for atypical returns

BA degree in Accounting/Taxation from U.S. college or university

Qualifications:

• 0-5 years of public accounting and/or taxation experience

Preferred Experience:

• Data entry, bank reconciliations, and accounting analysis
• Familiarity with preparation of business returns and projections
• Personal, small business, and trust tax experience, including projections, planning, and analysis
