Job summary

OceanView at Falmouth is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team in Maine. Reporting to the Cash Manager, this role supports general ledger entries, month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, and audits to ensure accurate financial reporting for our senior living community.

The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience, familiarity with GAAP, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Yardi experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with external audits is preferred.
  • Experience with accounting software; Yardi experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries.
  • Assist with month-end close activities including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process bank transfers and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Support bi-weekly payroll funding.
  • Assist with accounts payable processing, payment approvals, and check preparation.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and variance analyses.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Process HUD replacement reserve requests and sales tax filings.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
  • Prepare resale and new construction closing statements.
  • Collaborate with teammates for backup support during absences.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Cash Manager, you'll play an important role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Requirements

Job Requirements
Education
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience required.
  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial information, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience supporting external audits is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting software; Yardi experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Schedule

This full-time position is typically scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexibility is occasionally required to meet month-end, year-end, and other financial reporting deadlines.
