LABBB Educational Collaborative is hiring a Teacher Assistant for Ottoson Middle School in Arlington, MA to support students with moderate to severe disabilities. The role involves implementing data-driven instruction, assisting with IEPs, and helping students develop independence in a multi-grade setting.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (associates/bachelors preferred), a valid driver’s license, and willingness to commute between LABBB locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Experience working with children, young adults, or in human services related field; special education experience desirable
• Ability to work with students with a variety of disabilities including social-emotional, behavioral, non-verbal, non-ambulatory, etc.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to commute between buildings/programs during the day
• Ability and willingness to drive LABBB van (as required by program)
• Working full time (35 hours per week), 11 months (school calendar plus required 4 weeks in summer)

Responsabilités

• Assist with arrival and departure of students.
• Under supervision of licensed staff, assist in the implementation of data-driven, culturally responsive instruction, and implementation of IEPs and behavior plans.
• Follow schedule as assigned and adapt to reassignments between locations.
• Prepare instructional materials as requested by the teacher.
• Support students' development of independence, social awareness, language, academic skills and appropriate behavior.
• Collect student data and share with the student’s team.
• Utilize adaptive equipment as recommended for individual students.
• Communicate significant occurrences to the supervisor promptly.
• Uphold LABBB’s mission and values and adhere to laws and policies.
• Support students’ personal care needs (ADLs) including toileting, feeding, mobility.
• Supervise students across settings including lunch and community activities.
