Job summary

MaST Community Charter School MaST III is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students in a full-time role. You will provide instructional and behavioral support, help prepare materials, and assist during 1:1 or small-group activities in a collaborative environment.

Starting date is immediate with ten-month term; duties include data collection, de-escalation support, and adherence to school policies.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or satisfactory completion of Pa Dept of Education para-educator testing.
• Knowledge of GSuite Drive Docs Sheets Slides Forms, etc.
• Demonstrate ability to facilitate communication among coworkers and students.
• Ability to evaluate problems, prioritize work and determine solutions.
• Must possess and maintain PA school clearances.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, collect, and set up materials for student participation following teacher direction.
• Assist individual students and groups with instructional and behavioral support.
• Maintain daily activity logs for individually assigned students.
• Collect educational and behavioral data under teacher direction.
• Participate in implementing positive behavior support plans as assigned.
• Adapt classroom activities and materials to support learning objectives.
• Guide independent study and modified assignments as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students during meals, drills, assemblies, transitions, and field trips.
• Assist with daily routine and schedule supervision.
• Support in 1:1 roles when necessary.
• Assist students with personal care tasks.
• Help implement student behavior support plans and de-escalation strategies.
• Support students during emotional/behavioral dysregulation with de-escalation techniques.
