Job summary

Leon County Government's Solid Waste division seeks an Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy machinery and transport trucks, screen waste, and ensure compliance with environmental permits. The role requires a CDL Class B license and the ability to lift heavy loads outdoors in all weather.

Two rotating 40-hour shifts, with schedules switching every three months. Duties include maintaining disposal areas, coordinating with drivers, and keeping work areas clean.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CDL Class B license is required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains a variety of heavy equipment and transport trucks as listed.
• Maintains disposal and recycling area and coordinates with customers and drivers.
• Ensures compliance with FDEP operating permit conditions.
• Keeps work area clean by end of day.
• Screens waste for prohibited materials.
• Inspects incoming loads for prohibited waste.
