State of Utah is seeking a Staff Interpreter to provide interpretting services as an ADA accommodation for deaf/hard-of-hearing staff, students, and community members in various educational settings.

The role requires certification as a professional interpreter (Utah Board) or RID NIC and includes travel, flexible hours, and on-site duties in Ogden, UT. This is a full-time in-office position with a focus on ethics and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must possess current Professional level interpreter certification from the Utah Certification Board or National Interpreter Certification from RID.
• There are moderate physical requirements for sign language interpreting.
• Some travel is required.
• Must have and maintain a valid Utah driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate administrative needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services as an ADA accommodation for deaf/hard-of-hearing staff, teachers, parents, and others.
• Interpret for large and small group gatherings in school and agency settings.
• Adapt signing level and system to communication needs of assignments.
• Follow the code of ethics for certified interpreters.
• Participate cooperatively as a member of the interpreting team.
• Coordinate interpreting needs with the Associate Superintendent of the School for the Deaf.
