Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager or Senior Manager, the Senior Clinical Data Specialist plays a vital role in delivering quality solutions to hospital partners across the country. This is a unique opportunity to be part of our team during a milestone moment in our growth, leveraging our deep cancer registry experience and employee-centric leadership. Team members must be willing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Roles And Responsibilities
  1. Bring your specialized knowledge and patient storytelling skills to our hospital partners through categorizing, coding, summarizing, interpreting, and mining registry/case information from nuanced, unstructured patient medical records.
  2. Perform data collection (abstracting) and reporting on eligible cancer cases under current state mandates and national accrediting agencies.
  3. Ensure quality submission of all data in specified registries or measure data repositories, maintaining a high accuracy threshold.
  4. Support our partners' CoC Accreditation process with strong cancer registry operations, creation of policies and procedures, utilization of NCBD quality tools, and knowledge of how all standards support quality patient care.
  5. Engage in educational opportunities, including on-the-job learning guided by our in-house Quality & Education Team, accessible CEUs, and paid time for continuing education.
  6. Stay up to date on mandated regulatory/publicly reported data requirements as specified by federal, state, payer, and other agencies.
  7. Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and other business rule documents, while identifying process improvement opportunities.
  8. Participate in our culture of perpetual learning and collaboration, supporting the development of colleagues, including recent ODS Certification holders and Clinical Data Support Specialists.
Required Skills/Abilities
  1. Evaluate concordance with cancer program accreditation and other applicable standards.
  2. Experience working with multiple patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.
  3. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Excel).
  4. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for systematic problem-solving, data synthesis, and recommendations.
  5. High standards for accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Technically savvy with interest in learning new systems and technology.
  7. Organized, capable of managing time across multiple accounts and shifting priorities.
  8. Valuing information security and privacy, maintaining high responsibility for PHI confidentiality (Q-Centrix is SOC2 + HITRUST certified).
  9. Legally able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Education And Experience
  1. Must possess an ODS Certification.
  2. At least 5+ years of experience in data abstraction with an ODS certification.
  3. Experience in direct data abstraction in the Cancer Registry.
  4. Exposure to patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases.

The target wage range is $34.00 - $37.00 per hour, based on skills, experience, licensure, and other factors. Wages are reviewed annually, with performance-based increases.
