Job summary

Huron–Clinton Metroparks in Brighton, MI, seeks a seasoned Human Resources professional to oversee compensation analysis, recruiting, onboarding and LMS administration.   • Working knowledge of HR practices and labor laws; HR Certification preferred.
  • Parks or Public Sector experience a plus.
  • Compensation/Salary study experience preferred.
  • Union Environment Collective Bargaining Unit experience preferred.
  • Valid State of MI Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Recruiting/Talent efforts including posting job announcements, receiving and tracking applications, scheduling interviews, preparing and extending offers, background checks and recruitment reports.
  • Provides support to CHRO and HR team on employee relations, CBA-related issues, compensation and recruitment/retention.
  • Coordinates with HR Generalist on wellness program and Wellness Committee.
  • Manages LMS, designs, administers and assigns trainings and tracks compliance.
  • Updates and maintains HR intranet and SharePoint resources.
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations and policies.
  • Prepares salary analyses and workforce compensation studies.
  • Assists with risk management initiatives, including safety inspections and incident documentation.
  • Interprets and communicates HR policies to employees and supervisors.
  • Travels locally to parks; hybrid schedule up to 2 remote days weekly.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Chief of Human Resources Officer (CHRO), position is responsible for clerical, technical and professional work in the Human Resources Department. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: compensation analysis, sourcing and recruiting, onboarding and offboarding, LMS management, union negotiations and employment law compliance. May supervise part-time and temporary employees as assigned. Position works independently, exercises judgment and discretion in completion of duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Leads Recruiting/Talent efforts including posting job announcements, receiving and tracking applications, scheduling interviews, preparing and extending offers, background checks and preparing recruitment-related reports and correspondence.

  • Provides support to the Chief of Human Resources and other HR team members on matters of employee relations, CBA-related issues, compensation and recruitment/retention.

  • Coordinates with the HR Generalist on the organization\'s employee wellness program and facilitates the Wellness Committee.

  • Manages Learning Management System (LMS), designs, administers and assigns trainings including lunch & learn sessions, tracks and monitors compliance through various reports.

  • Updates and maintains Human Resources intranet and SharePoint sites with current information and resources.

  • Supports compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

  • Provides support to the Chief of Human Resources and other HR team members on matters of employee relations, CBA-related issues, compensation and recruitment/retention.

  • Works directly with various departments to coordinate quarterly meetings on Safety and other HR-related topics.

  • Prepares salary analysis and workforce compensation studies both internally and externally.

  • Assists with risk management initiatives, including safety inspections and the investigation and documentation of workplace incidents and accidents.

  • Interprets and communicates Human Resources policies, procedures, and employment practices to employees and supervisors.

  • Other duties as assigned by the CHRO.


Minimum/Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor\u2019s degree in human resources, psychology or a related field, Master\u2019s Degree is preferred. Applicants with 8 or more years of experience will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.

  • Minimum of (8) years of Human Resources experience.

  • Working knowledge of Human Resources practices and labor laws (HR Certification preferred).

  • Parks or Public Sector experience a plus.

  • Compensation/Salary study experience preferred.

  • Union Environment Collective Bargaining Unit experience preferred.

  • Valid State of MI Driver\'s License.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

  • HRIS experience (Tyler Product Linepreferred).

  • Knowledge of LMS administration.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws relating to workforce management.

  • Knowledge of \"best practice\" methods and techniques, including those used in recruitment,

  • placement, training, position classification and employee relations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the public, outside agencies and employees.

  • Ability to effectively work under high-performance situations.

  • Ability to effectively publicly speak, present information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to implement new initiatives and demonstrate creativity.

  • Ability to travel locally to any of the (14) Parks throughout Metro Detroit area.

  • Ability to work in the office located near Kensington Metro Park Brighton, MI (hybrid schedule-up to 2 days remote weekly).
