Job summary

Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles seeks a Full-Time Faculty, Fashion Design to teach at the Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus. The position carries a renewable non-tenure track, with a 6-course yearly load and active service to the department and college.

The candidate will develop curricula, mentor students, and maintain a professional practice to enrich the department and students’ growth, while collaborating across teams and engaging with a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of industry experience as a first through production pattern maker is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Demonstrated administrative leadership skills in academic or industry mentor programs.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in fashion; senior studio/ designer level teaching.
• Ability to analyze advanced fashion illustrations based on flat pattern drafting and garment construction.
• Understand designer-level fashion sportswear, couture fabrics, and applications.
• Professional standing in the fashion community; able to work with a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses as scheduled with a full-time studio course load and provide department service.
• Develop curricula, write syllabi, monitor attendance, and assess student learning.
• Advise students outside class hours and refer to campus resources when needed.
• Supervise teaching assistants and part-time faculty; schedule workloads and deadlines.
• Contribute to program assessment and department events; engage in governance activities.
