INTRODUCTION: CONTEXT AND MISSION

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Hourly Rate: $ 18.95/hour
Contract Days: 200
Union: (O.P.B.A) Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Performs all duties and responsibilities associated with ensuring the safety of all building
scholars and staff including submitting written safety and incident reports as required by Safety and Security Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engages in discussions with the principal, faculty, and students to foster effective communication and promote multicultural understanding

• Observes and reports any potential problems in and around the building

• Develops effective strategies to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering school buildings

• Helps safeguard individual rights and ensure the safety of school property

• Assists in supervising student movement and priority areas before, during, and after school

• Submits written reports regarding safety and incidents in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Safety and Security Management department

• Oversees the operation of magnetometers and X-ray machines to regulate access and identify contraband

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in related school or urban safety and security procedures
  • Individual with mature judgment
  • Ability to relate to individuals in conflict situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of persons of all ages within the school system
  • OPOTC, 120 hours, private police certification, required
  • Will be provided 40 hours Mandatory CMSD annual training
  • Must meet departmental physical requirement standards
