Job summary

Metalico is seeking a General Laborer in Pennsylvania to support vehicle processing and scrap recycling. You will assist with preparing vehicles for dismantling, removing reusable parts, and helping with crushing and material sorting.

The role requires outside/inside work, attention to safety, and the ability to follow simple instructions. Expect a 40+ hour week with occasional Saturdays and overtime; benefits include life, medical, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Industry experience in scrap metal preferred.
• Ability to work inside or outside as required.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills; willing to cross-train on equipment.

Responsibilities

• Weigh incoming material from customers.
• Sort incoming material into appropriate bins.
• Disassembles tires.
• Prepares cars to be processed (drain oil tanks, remove aluminum rims and catalytic converters, etc.).
• Operate varies pieces of equipment (alligator shear, tow motor, bobcat skid steer).
• Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
• Supplies production facility and/or stockpiles raw feed or finished products.
• Keeps yard clean, well-organized and safe.
• Informing/communication with the Yard personnel.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or requested.

Overview

The General Laborer position plays a key role in the processing and recycling of vehicles and scrap materials, helping ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental standards.

The General Laborer will assist with all stages of car processing, including preparing vehicles for dismantling, removing reusable parts, and supporting crushing and recycling activities. In addition to vehicle processing, this role involves performing a wide range of general yard duties such as sorting and organizing materials, maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and assisting equipment operators and other team members as needed.
