Job summary

Chartwells K12 seeks a full-time Sous Chef for Ann Arbor Public Schools in Ann Arbor, MI. The role supports the Executive Chef, prepares meals, and oversees kitchen staff during the shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Prior sous chef experience is preferred. The position offers a stable schedule, a pay rate of $23.00 to $24.00 per hour, and eligibility for internal referral bonuses. This role requires compliance with food-safety standards and quality control.

Qualifications

• Prior sous chef experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates. Includes interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies. Tracks product production, consumption and waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
