Job summary

Oak Hills Local School District is seeking a Custodian (Full-Time) at Oak Hills High School. The role involves performing general custodial duties, maintaining facilities, and supporting daily school operations.

8 hours daily, 5 days per week, 52 weeks per year, with days/hours assigned within the week. The incumbent will work under an assigned administrator/supervisor, following district policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; work skills substantiated by training and/or work experience.
• An acceptable score on a pre-employment skill test may be required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work that includes lifting/moving heavy items.
• Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
• Demonstrates dependability/flexibility. Reacts to interruptions/emerging priorities effectively.
• Displays sufficient math skills to calculate totals, percentages, ratios, and portions accurately.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties to protect/preserve buildings, equipment and furnishings.
• Works effectively with minimal supervision. Performs tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Checks daily schedule to find out if a school activity requires preparation or clean up.
• Anticipates/replenishes consumable supplies to avoid work schedule interruptions.
• Cleans assigned areas. Dry mops/washes floors. Cleans furniture, fixtures, walls and windows. Provides regular removal of trash. Moves/arranges furnishings, supplies and equipment as directed.
• Assists with the receipt of deliveries. Inspects packages. Verifies contents with packing lists.
• Complies with MSDS information. Ensures products are labeled/stored properly.
• Participates in occupational safety/health training as directed.
• Follows health/safety guidelines to clean up injuries. Reports injuries.
• Keeps administrators informed about workplace concerns and equipment issues.
• Assists with pickup/delivery of equipment and supplies.
• Reports traffic citations or damage during duties.
• Maintains open lines of communication and resolves concerns tactfully.
• Keeps current with technology related to work assignments.
