Job summary

Alexander County Schools Child Nutrition is seeking a diligent Child Nutrition Assistant for Hiddenite Elementary School. This permanent full-time role involves preparing and serving meals in a school cafeteria and following standardized recipes.

Responsibilities include food preparation, sanitation, serving line setup, and assisting with inventory and deliveries. A high school diploma is preferred, and driving credentials (NC license and CDL with P/S) may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred and ability to read, write and perform basic math for food prep.
• Must hold a valid NC state driver’s license.
• Must be eligible to obtain a CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in annual Safety and Sanitation training.
• Prepare, cook and serve meals and prepare a la carte items.
• Follow standardized recipes for entrees and side dishes.
• Wash and prepare vegetables, fruits, and salads.
• Set up serving line and replenish items during serving times.
• Assist with deliveries, inventory and storage of supplies.
• Maintain sanitation of kitchen, equipment and utensils.
