Overview
The Sales Teammate’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement: "To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." Additional duties include cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures, and routine cleaning as assigned by Store Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
- Demonstrate product using product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing knowledge with Team.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment and exchange policies, and security practices.
- Consistently achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and net sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide legendary service throughout Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
- Help Guests try on or fit merchandise and check out and bag purchases.
- Prepare merchandise for alterations and handle exchange and return procedures.
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals and meet performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.
- Place special orders or call other stores to find desired merchandise.
- Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities via Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
- Build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred programs.
- Maintain a professional and respectful attitude at all times, contributing to a positive floor culture.
Visual Merchandise Management
- Present merchandise to maximize sales and achieve optimal merchandise turnover.
- Stay current on product range.
- Collaborate with other Teammates and Guests to identify product improvements, new ideas, and feedback.
- Ensure sales floor is consistently sized and new freight is appropriately displayed.
Operations
- Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Open and close registers, use magnetic card readers, count money, separate charge slips, coupons, vouchers, balance drawers, and make deposits.
- Recognize security risks, handle thefts, and prevent or manage situations following Loss Prevention guidelines.
- Follow daily bag and purse checks and other Loss Prevention procedures.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of POS procedures and payment, exchange, and loss prevention policies.
- Perform merchandising tasks such as handling freight, re‑merchandising, preparing displays, completing markdowns, and transfers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store and provide feedback to management regarding merchandise concerns.
- Communicate policy violations and Guest or Teammate concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, and/or Human Resources confidentially and timely.
- Apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all Burkle policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Contribute to a positive team spirit while fulfilling the mission statement.
- Assist with special projects and other assigned duties.

Education and/or Experience
No prior experience or training required.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and occasionally sit. Lift up to 30 lbs. Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, including ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Regular activity in a retail store with moderate noise levels.
