Tallahassee, the capital city, is situated in the heart of Florida’s panhandle surrounded by the natural beauty of Nature’s Coast. Picture centuries old live oak trees draped with Spanish moss forming lovely canopy roads, the gentle rolling seven hills that comprise the city landscape, and nearby crystal clear waters of the local rivers (including kayaking with manatees). This is Florida with a definite Southern touch!
It is home to two major universities: Florida State University (FSU) and Florida A&M University. FSU has the region’s only College of Medicine, which offers residencies in General Surgery, OBGYN, Psychiatry and clerkship faculty positions for Tallahassee physicians. There are 2 major hospital systems, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, which recently became part of FSU and HCA Capital Regional Medical Center. This makes for a vibrant healthcare community with major specialties and sub‑specialties.
The economy is vibrant. The US Bureau of Economic Analysis recently reported the GDP of the Tallahassee’s Leon County region outpaces state and national growth. The majority of that growth is in the private sector and is occurring while preserving the natural beauty of the city and surrounding area. There are excellent public and private K‑12 schools. There is no state income tax in Florida!
Tallahassee is well connected with multiple direct flights to Atlanta and Charlotte daily, linking you to any destination in the world. Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa are all drivable weekend destinations. The white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast and beach communities such as Panama City, Destin, and all along the Gulf Coast highway 30A are only 2 hours away.
SVA is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, military service, veteran status, genetic information, or any other protected class under applicable law.
