Job summary

Gaylord Specialty Healthcare in Connecticut is seeking a Full Time Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care and life support under physician supervision. The role involves ventilator care, airway management, ABG analysis, and participation in the multidisciplinary care team.

Requirements include an Associate's of Science degree, preferred Bachelor's degree, current RRT, CT RCP license, and AHA BLS/ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate's of Science degree required.
• Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
• Current RRT certificate required.
• Current CT RCP license required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Provides ventilator care, secretion mobilization treatments, and other treatments as ordered by physician.
• Provides all aspects of airway care, maintenance and education.
• Performs breathing assessments and mechanics as needed for all purposes as ordered by physician.
• Interprets orders - draws and analyzes arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosage.
• May act as Charge Therapist and carry out shift responsibilities as assigned.
• Active member of code team - responds to emergencies and provides CPR, airway maintenance including intubation.
• Represents Respiratory Care as a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team.
• Evaluates patients upon admission & discharge.

Education
