Job summary

Spring Arbor – Frankfort is seeking a compassionate Full-Time Resident Assistant for 2nd shift evenings at our Frankfort, KY location. You will provide direct resident care, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe, comfortable community for seniors. We value teamwork, empathy, and a willingness to learn.

CNA certification is preferred; CPR/First Aid is required. Must meet state requirements and pass background checks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, senior living, or related service environment preferred.
  • CNA certification preferred; PCA certificate may be accepted.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Must meet applicable state certification and licensure requirements.
  • General understanding of senior needs.
  • Experience or aptitude with memory-impaired residents preferred.
  • Must pass background/health screenings and provide reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility).
  • Assist with dining, meal service, and post-meal cleanup.
  • Respond promptly to resident emergency call systems.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, team members, and visitors.
  • Maintain required resident care documentation per state regulations and policies.
  • Assist with resident transportation when required.
  • Follow safety, infection control, HIPAA, and residents’ rights guidelines.
  • Help with light cleaning, laundry, and room/area upkeep.
  • Attend meetings and in-service trainings as required.

The Resident Assistant (RA) provides direct resident care and support under the supervision of the Resident Care Director, Supervisor-in-Charge, and/or licensed nursing personnel. This role helps maintain a safe, comfortable, and positive physical and social environment while supporting residents’ daily care needs, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

The Resident Assistant assists with activities of daily living, responds to emergency calls, supports dining and daily routines, observes and reports changes in resident condition, maintains required documentation, and communicates professionally with residents, family members, team members, and visitors. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, service-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a senior living environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, positioning, transfers, mobility, and incontinence care.
  • Prepare residents for meals, snacks, and activities, and provide support in the dining room, including serving meals and clearing tables.
  • Respond promptly to resident emergency call systems and requests for assistance.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition to the appropriate supervisor or designee.
  • Communicate with residents, family members, team members, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintain required resident care documentation in accordance with state regulations and Allegro Living policies and procedures.
  • Assist with resident transportation when required.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, infection control, residents’ rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements at all times.
  • Assist with light cleaning, laundry, resident rooms, offices, and common areas as needed to support a safe and orderly environment.
  • Attend meetings and in-service training sessions as required and in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Support community standards by maintaining professional appearance, participating in training, and delivering courteous service that promotes positive resident and family experiences.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare, hospitality, senior living, or service environment preferred.
  • CNA certification preferred; Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certificate may be accepted. CNA certification may be required in some states.
  • Must have and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Must meet applicable state certification and licensure requirements.
  • General understanding of and concern for the needs of seniors.
  • Experience or aptitude working with Alzheimer’s disease and memory-impaired residents preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others and promote a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age; state-specific guidelines may apply.
  • Must pass required background screening, health screening, and drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must have reliable transportation and, where required, a valid driver’s license, an acceptable motor vehicle record, and insurability by the community’s automobile insurance carrier.
