Job summary

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, NC, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Monitor Bed Unit (MBU) on the night shift. The role focuses on continuous patient monitoring, timely interventions, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.

The RN will perform assessments, administer medications via EMR, interpret cardiac rhythms, educate patients and families, and uphold high standards of safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina RN license.
• CPR certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• PALS preferred.
• Recent Critical Care and/or Medical-Surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments.

• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Shift: Night Shift (2nd Shift; days vary)

• Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse in the Monitor Bed Unit (MBU) provides direct, patient-centered care utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice. This role involves continuous patient monitoring, timely intervention, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to clinical changes
• Perform comprehensive assessments for patients across the lifespan
• Administer medications safely using electronic medical record systems
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to abnormalities
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and specialized treatments
• Provide patient and family education, support, and advocacy
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
• Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant patient care environment
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) - required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - preferred
• Experience: Recent Critical Care and/or Medical-Surgical experience required
