Key Responsibilities

• Perform hygiene clinical procedures, including oral prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, sealants, fluoride, oral cancer screenings, and x-rays
• Educate patients on the importance of oral hygiene, including instructions and demonstrations of effective oral hygiene methods
• Communicate with the doctor regarding opportunities for restorative and/or periodontal needs
• Obtain and review dental history and records from patients, ensuring health history is updated for all returning patients

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program and a valid state license
• X-Ray/Radiology Certification where state regulations specify
• Local Anesthesia/Nitrous Oxide certification where state regulations specify

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a clinical working environment where potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood-borne pathogens is possible. It requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, leaning, and bending up to 8 hours a day. You must be able to carry, transport, and use tools and equipment, and lift up to 15 pounds when necessary.
