Job Summary

Performs all functions related to proper food preparation and maintenance of the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars. Ensures food quality and presentation while performing duties related to stocking and sanitation. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Team Members must be prepared to perform duties across different roles as needed, supporting WFM core values and initiatives, and adhering to health and safety regulations, including Food Safety standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare food items for the cold case, fresh pack, salad, and hot bars according to production sheets.
  2. Prepare food items according to recipes to ensure quality and consistency.
  3. Label, date, cover, monitor quality and freshness, and rotate all prepared items.
  4. Monitor food levels and replenish in a timely manner.
  5. Arrive on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; attend scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings.
  6. Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer needs promptly and effectively, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages courteously.
  7. Maximize sales potential through proper prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising.
  8. Follow and ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  9. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment; ensure equipment is clean and organized, including walk-ins and freezers.
  10. Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accurate signage and pricing.
  11. Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Thorough product knowledge.

  • Understanding of food production and basic cooking techniques.

Desired Work Experience

  • 6-12 months retail experience preferred.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
  • Use of hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Work in temperatures around 90°F.
  • Work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery.
  • May require ladder use.
