Job summary

The Village of West Jefferson is inviting applications for a Full-time Police Officer. You will be responsible for maintaining public peace, protecting lives and property, and enforcing state and federal laws with professionalism and integrity.

Qualified candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a High School diploma or GED, and be certified under the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. Prior law enforcement experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Applicants must maintain public peace, protect lives and property, and enforce state and local laws.
• Ability to generate detailed reports and appear in court; assist prosecutor in case preparation.
• Safe and effective use of firearms and other weapons; safe operation of a vehicle at high speeds; CPR and first aid.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a High School diploma or GED; certification under the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy.
• A minimum of two years in a law enforcement environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain public peace and protect lives and property within the community.
• Appear in court and assist the prosecutor with case preparation.
• Generate detailed incident and investigation reports.
• Safely operate police vehicles at high speeds and handle standard police equipment.
• Work varied shifts including weekends and holidays; respond to after-hour emergencies.
