Job summary

Sheraton McKinney is seeking a Full-Time PM Line Cook to join our kitchen team in McKinney, TX. You will prepare, cook, and present menu items following established recipes and safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with culinary training and 1+ year of kitchen experience preferred. You will maintain a clean station, follow health guidelines, and support cost control while delivering guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items using proper cooking techniques (grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, baking, braising).
  • Follow standardized recipes, presentation guidelines, and portion specifications for consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare meals accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies and special requests.
  • Maintain food storage, labeling, rotation and temperature controls per health regulations.
  • Monitor kitchen cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, utensils and prep areas.
  • Practice safe knife handling and proper food handling procedures.
  • Assist in controlling food costs by minimizing waste and efficient use of leftovers.
  • Maintain inventory awareness and report shortages or quality concerns to leadership.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly to management.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams for efficient service during all meals.
  • Maintain professionalism, reliability, and adherence to policies and scheduling.

The Sheraton McKinney Hotel is looking for a Full-Time PM Line Cook!

The compensation range for the position is $17- $20, depending on qualifications and related experience.

Job Overview:

The Line Cook prepares, cooks, and presents menu items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation while ensuring all food is stored, handled, and prepared safely. The Line Cook utilizes a variety of cooking techniques, monitors product quality and portion control, minimizes waste, and assists in maintaining kitchen equipment and sanitation standards.

What You'll be Doing:
  • Prepare and cook menu items using proper cooking techniques including grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, baking, braising, and other approved methods.
  • Follow standardized recipes, presentation guidelines, and portion specifications to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.

  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and other duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Skills and Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent; culinary arts education or related training preferred. One (1) or more years of culinary or food service experience, with hospitality industry experience preferred. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to guest service and demonstrate knowledge of proper food preparation, cooking techniques, food handling, storage, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards. The ideal candidate is able to follow established policies, procedures, and recipes while exercising sound judgment to identify and resolve routine issues. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

Physical work is a primary part of job. Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling and lifting up to 50 lbs. While performing job duties, the associate is required to speak, listen, and write. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses
