Job summary

UW Health is seeking a Lab Assistant – Clinical Labs to join our dedicated team in a full-time, 100% FTE role with a schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The position involves performing phlebotomy on patients of all ages, handling specimen receiving and processing, and entering orders in the LIS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program and clinical rotation.
• Six months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages and ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
• Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform kit testing, and maintain instruments (temperatures, reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).
• Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system.
• Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients.
