Job summary

Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Long Island, NY, seeks a full-time Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing and unit activities. The schedule is 5 days per week, 37.5 hours, with duties on the nursing units and clinic areas.

Qualifications

• CPhT preferred; high school diploma required with 2 years SNF/DSS or related experience.
• Candidate must be computer literate.
• Knowledge of brand and generic drug names and strengths.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist under supervision in pharmacy and nursing units.
• Read prescriptions and prepare medication orders according to policy.
• Be familiar with brand and generic drug names and strengths.
• Deliver medications to all Nursing Stations per the pharmacy rounds schedule.
• Ensure medications are in date, properly stored and labeled.
• Coordinate return of expired or discontinued medications for credit or proper destruction.
