Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and healthcare professionals professionally.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Refer clinical or medication-related inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Support pharmacists and lead technicians with daily operations.
  • Enter patient and prescription information accurately into the system.
  • Maintain prescription records by organizing, recording, and filing prescriptions and orders.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy computer systems.
  • Review medication orders and prepare medications for verification.
  • Calculate medication quantities and assemble prescription orders accurately.
  • Retrieve medications and supplies from inventory.
  • Prepare and print prescription labels with applicable auxiliary labels.
  • Package medications and affix labels.
  • Prepare unit-dose packaging when required.
  • Prepare compounded stock medications per procedures.
  • Process pharmacy charges and payments.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify needs.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking meds.
  • Remove expired medications according to procedures.
  • Follow infection-control policies and maintain a safe environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacist-in-Charge and Clinical Pharmacist with the daily operations of the pharmacy. This position plays an important role in providing excellent patient service while assisting with the accurate, safe, and efficient preparation and dispensing of prescription medications in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients, guests, and healthcare professionals with a friendly and professional attitude.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Respond to routine questions and requests and refer clinical or medication-related inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Support pharmacists and lead pharmacy technicians with daily pharmacy operations.
  • Collect and accurately enter patient and prescription information for new and refill orders.
  • Maintain prescription records by organizing, recording, and filing prescriptions and prescriber orders.
  • Enter prescription information accurately into pharmacy computer systems.
  • Review medication orders and prescriptions and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.
  • Calculate medication quantities and assemble prescription orders accurately.
  • Retrieve appropriate medications and supplies from pharmacy inventory.
  • Prepare and print prescription labels, including applicable auxiliary labels.
  • Package medications in appropriate containers and affix accurate prescription labels.
  • Prepare unit-dose packaging when required.
  • Prepare compounded stock medications according to established procedures when applicable.
  • Process pharmacy charges by calculating, recording, collecting, and issuing payments.
  • Monitor pharmacy inventory levels and identify medication and supply needs.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and pharmacy supplies.
  • Remove expired or outdated medications according to pharmacy procedures.
  • Follow infection-control policies and procedures to protect patients and employees.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
  • Follow applicable pharmacy policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture and support the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Technician registration.
  • At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy operations, prescription processing, and medication handling.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology or a related field.
  • New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Certified Pharmacy Technician credential.
  • New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacy Technician credential.
  • 5+ years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish, are a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use pharmacy computer systems and technology.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and patient safety.
