Full-time Personal Care Assistant: Emotional Support

Schedule: 6.50 Hours/Day (9:00 am-3:30 pm) Monday-Friday, 185 Days/Year.

Minimum Salary: $18.90.

Purpose of Position

The Personal Care Assistant / 1:1 Paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as outlined in the student’s Individual Education Plan. The assistant works under the supervision of the classroom teacher and program supervisor. This assignment is for a school year and may terminate based on student needs.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• PA Paraeducator Credential of Competency Certificate (or willingness to complete the free online program within 6 months of hire)
• Completed at least 48 post-secondary credits in any content area
• Associate degree or higher in any content area
• Willing to complete 20 hours of staff development annually

Certification Required

CPR certification such as CPI, Safe Crisis Management (SCM), or Quality Behavioral Solutions: Safety-Care Crisis Prevention, as needed.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift or assist in lifting students of various ages and assistive devices, and to physically restrain students using approved training methods.
