Job summary

Homestead Village, Inc. in Lancaster, PA is seeking a compassionate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support residents in a life plan community. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and maintaining safety and dignity for residents.

Open positions include full-time shifts in Supportive Services and Memory Care units. Benefits begin after 60 days, with a comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement options

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; preferred 1 year of caregiving experience but not required.
• Demonstrates compassion, adaptability, and teamwork in a resident-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Establish respectful relationships with residents.
• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental ADLs as per Resident Support Plan.
• Maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications and apply as needed.
• Perform laundry and light housekeeping to keep resident environments safe and clean.
• Facilitate resident activities to meet social, educational, spiritual and recreational needs.
• Assist with dining, meal preparation and service.
• Escort residents to appointments, outings and off-site events.
• Encourage hydration and proper nutrition.
• Document accurately and read provided documentation to perform tasks correctly.
• Follow and contribute to resident support plans; report pertinent information.
• Practice teamwork with co-workers, charge nurse, supervisor and other departments.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and complete in-services/education.
• Come to work clean, dressed appropriately and wearing name tag.

Homestead Village is a thriving non-profit, CARF-CCAC accredited, Life Plan Community located just outside downtown Lancaster. We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic, & passionate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join our compassionate community as we enhance independence and dignity for all our Residents.

Location:

• Main Apartment Building - Supportive Services; up to 98 residents on program
• Westvue Memory Care Unit (2 floors - Harvest House & Gelhard House); up to 26 residents

Base Pay: Determined based upon years of experience; starting rate with no experience or med-tech certification is $15.75; plus applicable shift & weekend differentials.

• $1.50 additional from 3:00pm-11:00pm
• $0.75 additional from 11:00pm-7:00am

• Establish respectful relationships with residents.
• Assist residents as identified in Resident Support Plan with Activities of Daily Living and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living.
• Maintain CPR, AED and standard First Aid certification and administer as required
• Perform laundry and light housekeeping tasks as needed to ensure that the resident’s living environment is safe (trash removal, dishes, removal of clutter, fall hazards, tidy apartment).
• Facilitate resident activities (formal and informal) to meet the social, educational, spiritual, recreational needs of the residents.
• Assist with dining, meal preparation and service.
• Escort residents to appointments, outings, and other off-campus events.
• Encourage proper hydration and nutrition of residents.
• Perform rounds to verify safety of residents.
• Answer call bells and verbal/non-verbal requests for help
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the residents.
• Asks appropriate questions to have a clear understanding of task/resident needs.
• Adheres to Confidentiality Policy/HIPAA
• Documents accurately and appropriately and reads/understands provided documentation to perform tasks correctly.
• Follows and contributes to resident support plans
• Reports pertinent information regarding residents.
• Practice teamwork with co‑workers, charge nurse, supervisor, and other departments to ensure that the needs of the residents and co‑workers are met.
• Follows attendance and punctuality policy.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and complete/attend all in‑services/education
• Accept direction from charge nurse/supervisor/administrator/organizational leadership.
• Come to work clean, appropriately dressed and wearing name tag at all times so that it can be easily seen by residents, visitors and other staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
