Job summary

River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX is seeking a Pastry Chef to join a small team under the Executive Pastry Chef. The role focuses on creating diverse pastries, desserts, and breads for Members across restaurants and events.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of pastry experience on a restaurant line.
• Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food handling practices.
• Experience preparing pastries, desserts, breads, or other baked goods in a professional kitchen environment.
• Able to take direction from supervisors.
• Detail-oriented – you understand that the little things count.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily dessert preparation for restaurants, special events, and Club functions
• Prepare a variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and baked goods according to production schedules and recipes
• Maintains all food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with company policy and health regulations
• Prepare and serve items in accordance with established recipe and presentation standards
• Support pastry production for special events, including large-scale functions
• Schedules production of dessert components to maintain an inventory of fresh items for the restaurants at all times
• Sets up, maintains and breaks down workstation and restaurant line
• Notifies Executive Pastry Chef in advance of expected product shortages
• Requisitions supplies as needed to prepare menu items
• Ensures that work area is safe and secure
• Maintains professional appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules at all times
• Adheres to state and local health and safety regulations
