Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston seeks a Registered Nurse for the Main Operating Room. This full-time position (36 hours weekly) covers a mix of 8- and 10-hour shifts on the Main Campus. The RN will apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and education, while guiding ancillary staff.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in Massachusetts.
• A minimum of 2 years of medical/surgical Nursing experience is preferred.
• OR nursing experience required.
• Related experience required for advanced clinical and specialty areas.
• Demonstrates leadership activities; able to work under stressful situation; and possesses well developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Membership in a professional nursing organization desired.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation to deliver patient care and education.
• Directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Cares for Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology patients in Mass Eye and Ear Operating Department (12 rooms).
• Collaborates with interns, residents, fellows and attending physicians; maintains priorities and communicates effectively under stress.
