Job summary

The University of Iowa Center for Disabilities & Development seeks a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant to implement prescribed rehabilitation protocols on day shift, under supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities include carrying out recovery plans, instructing patients, ensuring safety, and adjusting treatments as needed while collaborating with the supervising therapist. On-campus, full-time position with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting (OTA) or equivalent as defined by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required.
• Licensure in accord with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Independently carry out treatment plans in consultation with an occupational therapist.
• Execute treatments designed to improve patients’ functional capabilities.
• Instruct patients in exercise performance and training techniques.
• Assure patient safety at all times during rehabilitation sessions.
• Continuously evaluate the patients’ response to rehabilitation interventions and independently implement treatment modifications as needed.
