Job summary

Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge is seeking Certified Nursing Assistants to support nursing staff with direct resident care in a home-like setting. You will assist with bathing, feeding, hygiene and mobility, while monitoring residents’ conditions and responding to calls.

The role requires a Virginia CNA license, CPR/First Aid, and a HS diploma or GED. A 7:00pm–7:30am schedule with shift differentials is offered, along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Current Virginia CNA license is required or in process.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing personnel in providing direct resident care.
• Take and monitor vital signs and observe changes.
• Turn and reposition bedridden residents to prevent skin breakdown.
• Assist with bathing, eating, dressing, hygiene and mobility.
• Respond to Call lights and support admission/discharge processes.

Job description

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide a variety of selected routine nursing care tasks under the direct supervision of the nurses responsible for providing direct resident care. Responsibilities include assisting in the examination, treatment, and care of residents; provide privacy and assistance as appropriate in maintaining the resident’s dignity. In many instances, CNAs may spend more time with residents than anyone else on the health care team and therefore should provide a supportive, safe, home-like environment. For this reason, they can easily form lasting connections with residents and families and require individuals who are compassionate, empathetic and truly interested in helping others.

The starting rate is between $21.22 and $23.58 per hour and will be determined based on years of relevant experience.

The schedule for this position is 7:00pm to 7:30am. We also offer shift differentials for overnight and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing personnel in maintaining a therapeutic environment and provide direct resident care
• Participate in rounds of all resident rooms, utility areas, tub rooms and other areas as required
• Take vital signs
• Turn and re-position bedridden residents to prevent the breakdown of their skin
• Provide direct resident care such as assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, personal hygiene and walking residents
• Answer resident's Call lights
• Assist with the admission and discharge of residents

Qualifications

• Technical competencies include infection control, vital signs, hygiene, dietary needs, body mechanics, paperwork and charting and other miscellaneous skills
• Ability to make quick observations of a resident's condition and report that information back to the nurse
• Ability to monitor the health, safety, and well-being of residents

Requirements
