Job: Medical Receptionist
Hours: Full Time, 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday
Location: Plainsboro, NJ - Medical Arts Pavilion (5 Plainsboro Road Plainsboro, NJ)
Department: PMPH OBGYN - Plainsboro
- Although this role is based out of the Plainsboro office, a staffing need may occasionally arise at one of the other locations - Forrestal, Robbinsville, Hillsborough, Pennington and Monroe. This position requires flexibility to travel to those locations as needed.
- This position is looking for someone who can start after July 1st
- $500 sign-on bonus for external hires!
Summary:
- The Medical Receptionist performs a variety of tasks within a medical office. They often are the person that sets the tone for a patient's experience and care
- The Medical Receptionist is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance information and demographics, collecting co-pay at time of service
- The Medical Receptionist also does administrative tasks such as processing referrals and pre-certification of procedures for a multi-specialty physician outpatient practice located in a hospital environment.
Responsibilities:
- Greet incoming patients, noting their arrival time in the scheduling system.
- Confirm patient demographic information by providing form and HIPAA privacy notice to patient for completion.
- Instruct patients in proper method to complete new patient information forms, obtain insurance information to help set up their medical record
- File demographic/HIPAA information in medical record and make copies of new insurance cards or demographic information
- Collect appropriate co-payments for managed care members, post payment and issue receipt
- Collect referrals for patients when appropriate
- Answer assigned telephone lines appropriately and promptly, transferring to correct parties when necessary
- Take messages off assigned voice mail lines, returning calls promptly and following through with requests.
- Confirm appointments for next day, reminding them to bring referrals/records
- Coordinate procedure scheduling for additional testing, as ordered by physician
- Pull medical records when required for patient care or requests. Obtain necessary signed release from patient.
- Scan medical records and correspondence as needed
- Maintain knowledge of managed care and third party billing requirements relative to front desk processes, including insurance verification, co-payments and referrals
- Maintain standards of confidentiality and participate in unit compliance.
Education/Equivalent Experience:
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Two years of medical receptionist/front desk experience, to include knowledge of medical terminology/abbreviations and physician office operations (Required)
Preferred experience:
- Associate of Arts or Science
- Associates degree or coding certification preferred
- Previous experience working in an OB/GYN office
