Job summary

Valley Health Physician Alliance in Las Vegas is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time, day shift role within a growing health care team.

This position supports examination and treatment under physician direction, records vital signs, venipuncture and related procedures, and prepares treatment rooms for examinations. Documentation occurs in the Electronic Medical Record per IPM guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Familiarity with medical terminology required.
• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process.

Responsibilities

• Participates in decision-making and process improvement.
• Keeps patient rooms and supply areas stocked and clean; manages expiration dates and infection prevention standards.
• Distributes referrals to physicians and insurance companies; documents referral requests/responses.
• Pre-authorizes prescriptions and clinical tests as necessary.
• Phone/fax patient prescriptions as needed.
• Schedules imaging studies and other appointments; completes paperwork.
• Performs clinical duties including triaging, taking vitals, injections, venipunctures, and preparing patients for exams.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

Current BLS/CPR certification

Medical Assistant Certification/one year experience

Familiarity with medical terminology
