Job summary

GREATER FAMILY HEALTH is seeking a capable Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff at multiple Chicagoland sites. You will perform patient care tasks, manage follow-up, and assist with laboratory duties in a dynamic clinic environment.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma, MA program completion or 6 months MA, CPR/BLS, and basic computer skills; CNA license is acceptable. Travel to other centers and bilingual English/Spanish abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or minimum six months MA experience.
  • Active CNA license consideration if MA program not completed.
  • CPR/BLS Certification required.
  • Registration or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred but not required.
  • Travel to NW Suburbs for work; mileage reimbursement available.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, stock supplies, prepare and clean clinical areas and equipment; sterilize instruments.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examination and treatment.
  • Collect, label and process laboratory specimens; complete lab requisitions.

The primary purpose of this role would be to assist providers and nursing staff within the clinic, provide patient care, manage patient follow-up, and handle laboratory duties.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document daily set up, stocking, maintenance of supply levels, and clean all clinical areas and equipment, including the washing and sterilization of instruments.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Collect and process/label laboratory specimen for testing and accurately complete lab requisitions.
  • Perform CLIA waived testing, EKGs, injections/immunizations, and more, as directed by nursing and provider staff.
  • Provide patient education as directed by provider, i.e., providing instructions for laboratory, radiology, and other medical testing/procedures.
  • Retrieve laboratory and other test results and submit for review by provider as necessary.
  • Report to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities; location of work sites and shifts will change at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Travel to other locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Certification.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or a minimum of six months working as a Medical Assistant.
  • If you have not completed a program or worked as a MA, you may be considered for this role if you hold an active CNA license.
  • CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Registration or Certification in Medical Assisting preferred but not required.
  • Travel to other health centers within the NW Suburbs as needed (mileage reimbursement provided).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
