Job summary

Hunterdon County Library is seeking a Makerspace Librarian to join our team full time, 35 hours per week, with opportunities to teach classes, support open hours, and help residents with their projects.

You will collaborate with an experienced makerspace team and maintain a diverse set of equipment in our state-of-the-art makerspace, including laser, printers, kilns, and sewing/woodworking tools, in a welcoming community space.

Qualifications

• MLS in Library/Information Sciences (ALA-accredited) or NJ Master’s program deemed acceptable.
• Must comply with the NJ First Act.
• May require valid driver's license; provisional appointment pending Civil Service.
• 35 hours/week, including some nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a passionate and talentedMakerspace Librarian to join our team full time, 35 hours/week. This position provides a unique opportunity for a hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with our experiencedmakerspace team to support and contribute to the various projects and activities within the makerspace. This includes teaching classes, supporting open hours, maintaining equipment and helping residents with their projects.

TheHunterdon County Library Makerspace is dedicated to providing a welcoming, safe space for community members of all backgrounds to connect, discover, build and create through hands-on experimentation and exploration. Our state-of-the-art makerspace is equipped with a laser, direct to garment printer, sublimation printer, vacuum former, SLA resin printer, carbon fiber printer, kiln, pottery wheel, audio visual equipment, long-arm quilter, serger, sewing machines, embroidery machines, soldering and woodworking tools. The current library staff consists of over 70 full and part-time employees.

REQUIREMENTS

• A Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master's program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
• Applicant must comply with the "NJ First Act."
• Appointee may be required to possess a valid driver's license - initial appointment provisional pending Civil Service procedure.
• 35 hours/week, including some nights & weekends.

Starting Salary: $59,861Hunterdon County offers excellent health and dental benefits, paid leave, paid holidays, and participation in the New Jersey State Retirement Systems. Hunterdon County Library offers paid sick, vacation, personal and holiday leave.
