Job summary

ALDI USA is seeking a Lead Store Associate who can independently open and close the store in the absence of store management. You will guide associates, stockers and cashiers, uphold store standards, and ensure an excellent customer shopping experience.

The role includes supervising the team, communicating expectations, resolving concerns, executing opening/closing duties, and supporting management to improve sales and operations while maintaining loss prevention and cash handling procedures.

Job description

The lead store associate position is a keyholder position responsible for independently opening and closing the store in the absence of store management. This role supports the team by guiding associates, stockers, and cashiers through opening and closing duties, helping to maintain store standards, and ensuring an excellent customer shopping experience.

Average Hours:38 hours per week
Starting Wage:$22.50 per hour
Wage Increases:Year 2 - $23.00 | Year 3 - $23.50 | Year 4 - $23.50| Year 5 - $24.50

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees the appropriate resolution of employee and customer concerns, aligning with store management as needed.

• Assists store management with implementing action plans to improve operating results and personnel development.

• Informs store management of team developments and concerns in a timely and effective manner.

• Communicates, cooperates, and interacts effectively with all levels of ALDI employees, customers, third-party vendors, and business partners.

• Properly utilizes the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately scan and process customer purchases and informs store management of scanning concerns or errors.

• Complete curbside pickup orders by accurately retrieving items from the store, verifying order contents, and ensuring timely delivery to customers’ vehicles from the staging area.

• Executes opening and closing duties in the absence of store management.

• Delegates and oversees the completion of tasks to store associates, cashiers, and stockers in the absence of store management.

• Assists store management in achieving operational efficiency goals.

• Assists store management in achieving total loss goals.

• Adheres to cash policies and procedures.

• Resolves concerns from store personnel and customers and/or refers such concerns to the store manager as necessary.

• Models, communicates and monitors compliance with established policies and procedures.

• Ensures store personnel adhere to expense guidelines, inventory procedures, product handling, and cash handling policies to minimize loss.

• Ensures store personnel maintain zone standards and merchandising standards at all times.

• Ensures store personnel comply with the company’s guidelines, policies and procedures; demonstrates appropriate interactions with co-workers.

• Supports store management in ensuring a safe working environment by rectifying and identifying unsafe conditions, including poor ergonomics and equipment concerns to prevent injuries or accidents before they occur.

• Performs general cleaning tasks to company standards.

Physical Demands:

• Required to push, pull, sit, stand, reach, grasp, twist, bend, and move from one area to another.

• Required to lift, carry, and place products weighing up to 45 pounds on shelves at various heights, including overhead.

• Required operation of equipment such as a cash register, electric and manual hand jacks, floor scrubber and cardboard baler.

• Required to stock product in varying temperatures, including freezer and cooler environments.

• Required to use glass and multipurpose cleaning products.

Education and experience:

• At least 18 years old required.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Prior experience in a retail environment and prior management experience preferred.
