Job summary

First Baptist Church of Jennings is prayerfully seeking a full‑time Lead Pastor who has been clearly called by God to pastoral ministry. We are seeking a man of integrity who is committed to faithfully preaching and teaching God’s Word, shepherding the congregation, equipping believers for ministry, and leading our church in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Qualifications

• Clear personal relationship with Jesus Christ and calling to pastoral ministry.
• Biblical preaching, teaching, leadership, and pastoral care.
• Strong alignment with the church’s theology and mission.
• Be ordained or eligible for ordination in a Southern Baptist church.
• Hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Five years of full-time pastoral experience (preferred).
• Commitment to evangelism, missions, and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Preach and teach the inerrant Word of God.
• Provide spiritual leadership and vision for the church.
• Shepherd and disciple the congregation through pastoral care.
• Lead the church in evangelism, missions, and community outreach.
• Equip members for ministry and disciple believers of all ages.
• Work with staff and ministry leaders; officiate baptisms, weddings, funerals.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Demonstrate a clear personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry
• Be a man of integrity who meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9
• Have five (5) years of full‑time pastoral experience (preferred)
• Be ordained or eligible for ordination in a Southern Baptist church
• Affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Hold a seminary degree (preferred)
• Demonstrate strong biblical preaching, teaching, leadership, discipleship, and pastoral care
• Exhibit strong alignment with the church’s theology, mission, and ministry philosophy

Primary Responsibilities

• Faithfully preach and teach the inerrant Word of God
• Provide spiritual leadership and vision for the church
• Shepherd and disciple the congregation through pastoral care, counseling, visitation, and prayer
• Lead the church in evangelism, missions, and community outreach
• Equip members for ministry and disciple believers of all ages
• Work collaboratively with church staff, deacons, and ministry leaders
• Officiate baptisms, weddings, funerals, the Lord’s Supper, and other pastoral responsibilities
• Foster unity while helping the church grow spiritually and reach the surrounding community with the Gospel
