Job summary

Seabury, Inc. is seeking a cafeteria/cashier operations role in Bloomfield, CT. You will oversee Marketplace activities, operate the POS system and online ordering portal, and assist with dining room services and resident communication.

The position requires a High School diploma, 6–12 months of cafeteria/cashier experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and is responsible for all operations and functions of The Marketplace.
  • Oversees operation of POS system, online ordering portal and Marketplace Express; operates POS for assigned shift.
  • Assist Dining Room Manager with assigned duties including Grab n’ Go, Bistro and Main Dining Room meal service; take orders and clear tables.
  • Assist with resident communication, menu selection, input, and delivery.
  • Maintain inventory of Marketplace stock; label, date and monitor expiration; keep logs current.
  • Suggest new store items to keep offerings current with resident demands.
  • Call Residents for delivery orders.
  • Assist with cleaning and side tasks in Bistro and MDR service areas.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Assist Dining Area Captains with various set-ups and clean-ups.
  • Respond to diners’ requests promptly and politely.
  • Maintain professional appearance and personal hygiene.
  • Understand and support facility mission and resident rights.

Job description

To oversee the overall operations of the Marketplace, POS system and support food service locations as needed. To provide residents and guests with the highest quality of customer service in a cheerful atmosphere.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience: Six to twelve months’ cafeteria/cashier experience.

Skills and Competencies:

1.Must be able to read, speak and understand the English language.

2.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

3.Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.

4.Must be able to lift up to 25lbs, bend, rotate and stock shelves on a daily basis.

5.Must be able to perform job functions without direct supervision.

6.Must be available to work days, some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

7.Ability to use good judgement in decision making situations.

8.Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with older individuals, the public and coworkers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

9.Oversees and is responsible for all operations and functions of The Marketplace.

10.Oversees operation of POS system, online ordering portal and Marketplace Express. Operates POS for assigned shift. Ensure there is always an attendant present during hours of operation.

11.Assists Dining Room Manager with assigned duties. To include but not limited to: assist Grab n’ Go, Bistro and Main Dining Room meal service. Take orders and clear tables.

12.Assist with all resident communication, menu selection, input, and delivery.

13.Taking daily/weekly inventory of Marketplace stock and communicate items needed. Ensure all products are properly labeled, dated and expiration dates are monitored/FIFO. All inventory sheets and temp logs are current and filed appropriately.

14.Must be open and enthusiastic to try new products. Responsible for selecting new store items and keeping products and store offerings interesting and current with resident demands.

15.Calls Residents for delivery orders.

16.Assists cleaning and side work tasks including Bistro and MDR service areas as needed.

17.Ensures we are always in compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements.

18.Assists Dining Area Captains with various function set-ups and clean-ups.

20.Responds to Diners’ requests promptly and politely.

21.Conveys a courteous and caring image.

22.Maintains a professional appearance (in full, clean uniform) and good personal hygiene.

23.Understands and supports the mission and philosophy of the facility.

24.Abides by residents’ rights.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES/NON ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1)A general willingness to help wherever there is a need.

2)In addition to maintaining a clean and presentable Marketplace, responsibilities will include maintaining the appearance/cleanliness of the bistro parlor seating area to include carpet, floor, and tables. This also includes responsibility for maintaining the grab and go wait area, floor, and waste bins.
