About Divine Child Elementary School (DCES) & the Instructional Support Program (ISP):
Divine Child Elementary, is a parish school dedicated to instilling Catholic values and
achieving academic excellence. We are committed to providing opportunities that
nurture each student's spiritual, academic, social and creative growth.

The ISP is a program designed to provide tailored, academic interventions and
accommodations to eligible students. The program aims to provide all students who
desire a Catholic education with the opportunity to receive the same excellent
education regardless of a diagnosed learning difference. Students in this program will
learn to be self advocates and independent learners through excellent instruction and
support in the classroom and as well as individualized time with the ISP Staff.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Support Specialist is a special education instructor within the ISP at DCES.
Primary responsibilities include assisting ISP students in implementing accommodations,
interventions, and strategies as a means to foster academic progress. This individual will
be working with the students, content teachers, and the ISP team to develop
individualized systems that allow students to respond positively to academic instruction
and develop their self-advocacy and independent working/learning skills. This individual
will also serve as a case manager, tracking and supporting the academic or behavioral
progress of individual students. The position reports to the Principal.

Salary:
Commensurate with degree(s) and years of experience.

Essential Job Functions:

●Analyze and interpret MET data and other academic & cognitive testing results, in

collaboration with ISP team as a means to identify appropriate, corresponding

academic accommodations based upon student strengths and weaknesses.

●Provide instructional recommendations to classroom faculty that support

differentiation, universal design for learning, accommodation, modified

curriculum, and personalized learning.

●Provide and coordinate multi-tiered interventions on behalf of identified students.

●Integrate a variety of materials and assistive technology applications into the

learning environment appropriate to the unique learning style and educational

ability of students.

Co-teach or teach as invited.

●Facilitate and/or organize interventions in collaboration with other Instructional

Support Program teachers.

●Ensure implementation of student accommodations and document accordingly.

●Maintain records of student goals, interventions, objectives, and student progress

data.

●Provide school-wide professional development training when requested.

●Coordinate and facilitate testing accommodations for identified students.

●Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement of students in

collaboration with the Instructional Support team.

Administer formative and summative assessments as requested.

●Participate in various school-wide and department outreach events.

●Coordinate and provide direct academic support for individual students weekly

●When requested, attend other departmental and planning meetings.

●Plan and participate in parent meetings during scheduled school conferences

and as needed throughout the school year.

●Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strongly Preferred
● Elementary or middle school teaching experience.
● Special education teaching experience.
● Bachelor’s degree in Education or the equivalent.
● Current Michigan Teaching certificate (elementary or middle school) with Special
Education endorsement(s).
● Understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules of Special Education (MARSE),
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act.
● Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred
● Experience in creating and implementing behavior intervention plans within a
special education context
● Experience with assistive technology applications.
